Hey,
This month began on a remote Japanese island – Tsushima.
4:30am starts, waking up before my team, and hitting the sack by 9pm, just when the European team was getting started.
I could’ve tried jumping on Slack, but the internet was comically bad – you’d have to climb a hill just to get any signal.
So I quit - for two full weeks.
My full-time job was sword training, meditation, hikes, calligraphy classes, and, of course, soaking in onsen
(Japanese baths).
There was something incredibly liberating about the routine.
The physical training left no room for thinking:
No more marketing discussions…
No new products…
No business challenges or questions…
Just pure freedom.
As a business owner, stepping away from the day-to-day is crucial - the best ideas aren’t born in the daily grind of running a business. It’s only in that distance that you can see what needs to happen next.
But let’s face it – most small business owners don’t have the luxury of taking time off.
This is what I often hear from our community:
I’m burned out...
When I stop working, the money stops coming in...
I don’t trust my team to handle things while I’m away…
And the list goes on.
I’ll be honest – I couldn’t afford to quit for a few weeks, or even months, if I didn’t have several businesses powered by recurring revenue (hello, memberships) and a small team that keeps things running smoothly.
From day one, I designed my businesses as freedom accelerators, not just a full-time job for myself.
Sure, there are times when I work 14-hour days...
And yes, there are times when I have to take calls at 2am to match time zones...
But ultimately, the system is set up so that once I hit my limit, I can step away, recharge, and come back feeling even more passionate about what I do.
So after a few weeks of almost monastic life, I was thrilled to return.
I get that not everyone can build a team from the start, which is where this week’s video comes in handy. In it,
I share how you can build GPT bots to act as your personal army of employees.
